This picture shows the column of dust known as the 'Elephant's Trunk' in the constellation of Cepheus. Deep within the dense clumps of dust and gas that make up the 'trunk' new stars are currently forming. @spencerscamera modded my main camera and last night was my first time using it at Bryce Canyon and LOOK AT THOSE COLORS!! This is ISO 6400 as well, where colors aren’t ideal (vs tracking at lower ISO) so I’m hyped for tonight with less clouds so I can shoot even lower ISO like 400-800 and really see clean colors. Spencer works on NASA equipment that’s way over my head but he also is really passionate about landscape astrophotography and mods cameras so they perform better at night, and I’ve wanted the Hydrogen Alpha + Cooling mod for a long time. Now my camera is picking up wayyyy more colors, of course more Hydrogen Alpha reds, but also my color separation and saturation in the core of the Milky Way is noticeably cleaner too!! Airglow when present, is also significantly more apparent on my sensor. It was only in the 50’s last night and I didn’t push my shutter speed behind 120” so I haven’t even tested the cooling to the full, but even at 6400 my sensor noise is significantly lower and I had 0 hot pixels throughout the whole session. Will be interesting to test in warmer conditions next month & longer exposures tonight. If you’ve ever been on the fence about getting the H alpha mod for your DSLR, I highly recommend it. Cooling too if your camera gets hot pixels and lost of read noise. DM @spencerscamera if you have any more questions. Thanks so much man!!

The other night was my first time truly seeing and shooting the Milky Way and it was an experience I hope to never forget. I made it my goal this year to learn how to properly shoot astro and we may be 6 months into the year...but I’m finally getting around to it. Massive thanks to @3rd.inspiration for driving the entire way and shoutout to the three cool dudes we randomly met at Mobius Arch at midnight: @erikcaptures, @traveltristan and @calebgelnar Shot with @sonyalpha a7ii and 16-35 Zeiss

. . . . . . . . #twanight #astrophotography #nightphotography #darksky #deathvalleynationalpark #nationalparks #milkyway @natgeocreative @natgeo #like4like #likeforlike #folow4folow #folowme #flower #photoday #photography #photographer #insta #instaday #mountainlife #mountais #milkyway #galaxy

. . #milkyway #vialattea #galaxy #stars #star #fallingstar #stellecadenti #stelle #cielo #notte #sky #night #astrophotography #astrology #astronomy #astrofotografia #astrologia #astronomia #nikon #nikond750 #d750 #perugia #assisi #umbria #italy #italia #fotografia #fotografo #photography #photographer

Usually galaxies tend to clump together into clusters. This galaxy also known as NGC 6503 it’s found by its own in an empty patch of space called the Local Void. NGC 6503 is 18million light-years away from us. #telescope #astrophotography #science #hubble #astro #physics #science #galaxy #nasa #cosmicperspective

Thought it's about time for a cheeky insty. Had my mind blown with the beauty and overwhelming size of the himalayas many times in our trip but this late night toilet trip was one of the best. I told myself I'd get some milky way shots over an epic mountain before this trip but the reality of high altitude put me straight to sleep at 9 every night and if I got up I was only conscious enough to make it to the toilet and back 🤣thankfully on this good night I got to see this Halo. . . . . .#longexposure #milkyway #nightshooters #milkywaygalaxy #astrophotography #weownthenight #fantastic_earth #artofvisuals #agameoftones #worldshotz #natgeotravel #landscapephotography #gramslayers #justgoshoot #exploretocreate #splendid_shotz #exploretheglobe #wanderlust #travelnepal #everest #nepal #nikon #instagood #moon #treknepal

Dust lanes seem to swirl around the core of Messier 96 in this colorful, detailed portrait of the center of a beautiful island universe. Of course M96 is a spiral galaxy, and counting the faint arms extending beyond the brighter central region, it spans 100 thousand light-years or so, making it about the size of our own Milky Way. M96, also known as NGC 3368, is known to be about 35 million light-years distant and a dominant member of the Leo I galaxy group. The reason for M96's asymmetry is unclear -- it could have arisen from gravitational interactions with other Leo I group galaxies, but the lack of an intra-group diffuse glow seems to indicate few recent interactions. Galaxies far in the background can be found by examining the edges of the picture.

Photo by @babaktafreshi The World at Night project Many of the world’s observatories are also prime areas for stargazing and emerging astro-tourism thanks to the natural dark skies being preserved, the view which is lost to most people on the planet due to our own lights. Here I was in the southern outskirts of Chile’s Atacama Desert on La Silla Observatory during an imaging assignment for European Southern Observatory @esoastronomy. The galactic core rises over La Silla peak with bright star Antares on the top left. • • ° • ✓English ° •Astronomers at the University of California, Los Angeles (USA) have discovered several bizarre objects that are hiding their true identity behind a dustbin in the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way.
