Feeling better hurts! #livingwithlyme, #pcos, #backpain, #neckpain, #heartproblems, #pelviccongestionsyndrome and whatever else is wrong with me #hurts but who ever would have thought #gettingbetter would #hurt more. I guess all this running around, working on work, rebuilding my business back up from the ground and trying to have a little fun here and there takes more of a tole on a person when they have spent so long fighting just to get out of bed. My muscles ache just because I’m trying to use them everyday now as opposed to every other day or every third day. I am so far behind on so much. Just doing some housework and a few jobs here and there is killing me. I’m just so #sore. I did something tonight I never do. I took a #soma (#musclerelaxer ) #ambien and #percocet all at the same time because I don’t wanna be in pain while I sleep. I have never felt so weak. I am getting better though. I have worked so hard to get better. I have had surgeries and have tried all kinds of drugs to fix me and I have done everything in my power and more to heal myself. Is this ever going to end? In 2010 I was so strong I joined the army and man could I kick ass and then I got broken so I was out but still I could kick ass... then one little fucking tick bit me somewhere I couldn’t see and for 6 years that bacteria from that tick worked its way through my body bringing out anything and everything I was predisposed to or was hereditary or just made things like my jacked up back that much worse because I could no longer keep my muscles strong. #wtf have I done to deserve this? I must be cursed... or damned. I’m not a bad person. People might not always agree with how I choose to live my life but I don’t hurt people and I’m not cruel. For fucks sake I have so much compassion I haven’t eaten a dead animal since 1999. Anyway, just venting... I don’t suppose any of these drugs I have taken simultaneously have led to my venting. Bah, well I’m sure this pain will pass. I should probably try to sleep now. #goodnightinsta

Have you ever had your running technique analysed? 👣 It’s one of the MOST IMPORTANT things you can do to ensure you’re wearing the correct footwear for your body and train to your full potential. I see so many patients with foot, ankle & knee pain, not to mention shin splint and gluteal weakness issues. Most of them are wearing the wrong type of shoe and need some sort of orthotic/lift in their shoe 👟 Spend the time and the money to get properly checked out by a specialist, as it will save you much pain and agro in the long run! My favourite place in London is @profeetcustom in Fulham... they are experts in the field and will teach you EVERYTHING you ever wanted to know about your running style, foot positioning and can even make orthotics for you on the spot too, if required!

The temperature in the UK has dropped but we’re still very much amidst the summer holiday season!! ☀️ Don't let a bad back spoil your hard-earned break 🏖 Back pain on holiday is very common and one of the biggest causes is lack of activity and an already stiff spine. Mobilising the spine and a few simple exercises are often enough to prevent back pain from spoiling your holiday 🧘🏻‍♀️ Make sure you keep moving on holiday...go for a morning walk or swim and keep moving throughout the day. Your spine will thank you 🏊🏾‍♂️ Hotel beds are a major source of back pain. If the mattress is too hard, try putting a duvet under the sheet to soften it up. If its too saggy, try pulling the mattress onto the floor. If all else fails, complain and get a new mattress 🛏 Be aware of how your carrying your luggage. Use trollies when available and make sure you're carrying bags evenly on each side of your body 💼 Having a pre-holiday check-up can go a long way in preventing a recurrence of back pain 💆🏼‍♀️

Vuoi allenare i tuoi glutei? Attento che potrebbero essere “frenati”

La contrazione di un muscolo  determina l’inibizione del suo antagonista. Sul gomito, per flettere l’avambraccio sul braccio contraendo il bicipite, per forza di cose si dovrà rilasciare il suo antagonista in questione, ovvero il tricipite. Se prendiamo lo stesso esempio sull’articolazione dell’anca vediamo che i muscoli glutei, in particolare la parte superficiale (quella più ambita esteticamente in palestra dalle signorine), è diretto antagonista dei flessori dell’anca. Questo complesso di muscoli fa flettere la coscia sul busto. Quando siamo seduti i muscoli anteriori (i flessori dell’anca) sono in uno stato di accorciamento mentre gli estensori (in primis i glutei) sono in uno stato di allungamento. Se lo stare seduti è la postura prediletta per molte ore al giorno è molto probabile trovare muscoli flessori retratti e muscoli estensori allungati. Questo scenario, purtroppo, comporta uno squilibrio sull’articolazione dell’anca dove i muscoli glutei risulteranno “frenati” poiché i flessori in avanti sono in uno stato di retrazione. Quando in palestra vogliamo concentrarci sul lavoro “selettivo” dei glutei, in questo caso ci troviamo in condizioni svantaggiate perché i nostri poveri glutei sono frenati dai loro antagonisti che tirano l’anca dalla loro parte. È un po’ come se giocassero al tiro alla fune. Purtroppo però i flessori sono più “allenati” a tirare e saranno avvantaggiati. In questo caso, scoprendo tramite test specifici che i flessori dell’anca sono retratti, prima di allenare i glutei dovremmo rilasciare le tensioni anteriori di questi muscoli antagonisti dei glutei. Potrebbero volerci settimane, mesi ma alla fine molleranno… Solo dopo potremmo essere sicuri di muovere l’anca liberamente e permettere agli adorati glutei di attivarsi nella loro completezza.

So you had a killer leg session at the gym, nailed your squat work out then the next day - you can't walk upstairs and managing to sit on the toilet is impossible! #babygiraffewalk. When your muscles are this sore, it is called the DOMS. Or Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness.  It is the  micro-tears in the muscle fibres when doing your squats or deadlifting. The body is then rebuilding those fibers which is the key process to the muscle-strengthening phase.
But the micro-tears also cause inflammation, which leads to muscle soreness. 
What helps?? Protien is great to help rebuild these fibres. Put off the deep tissue massage for another day or so. You are not going to have a good time. Soft massages, foam rolling and active recovery will help and keep well hydrated.

Steroid injection number... I've lost count. I know this is the 2nd one into my Right Shoulder for Burstitis... but overall steroid injections... between 10-15 throughout spine, neck, skull base and right shoulder.

Dealing with a dodgy right shoulder for as long as I can remember and none of the paediatric specialists at the WCH when I was 15 could figure out why and when I was 10 the Dr was just guessing and said it'd ease up as I got older. Total bs. I've had far too many Dr make guesses about my health. I'd rather a straight up honest "I don't know". Whinge over.

Panaway has been a lifesaver the last few days. Jared and I just got back from our Anniversary trip which we spent several hours in the car and walking. (I drove almost the entire time). 🦖Flexion- Placing your fist between your chin and sternum. Press down into fist.

🦎Extension- Hands behind your head perform the chin tuck position into your hands.

🐍Rotation- Hand to side of face rotate your head into hand.

It’s awesome when childhood friends find their way into a career field that benefits you 😂👏🏼 I’ve wanted to try #cupping for years but never found a place I could trust and given the back and neck pains I’ve experienced for 15+ years (#anxietyprobs) and the terrible track record I have had with doctors (re: I played #volleyball with THREE undetected tears in my shoulder for 2+ years that could only be fixed by surgery) I wasn’t about to try something that could go horribly wrong if the doctor performing your session didn’t know what they were doing. Grateful to my friend @dr_johnny__ for squeezing me into his busy schedule to fix the multiple issues I’ve been avoiding for so long! It’s awesome when childhood friends find their way into a career field that benefits you 😂👏🏼 I’ve wanted to try #cupping for years but never found a place I could trust and given the back and neck pains I’ve experienced for 15+ years (#anxietyprobs) and the terrible track record I have had with doctors (re: I played #volleyball with THREE undetected tears in my shoulder for 2+ years that could only be fixed by surgery) I wasn’t about to try something that could go horribly wrong if the doctor performing your session didn’t know what they were doing.
