This beautiful, jagged and desolate landscape was known to its original inhabitants, the Lakota, as "mako sica", or in English, "the bad lands". The size and magnitude of this "bad land" of tough grasslands, deep canyons and towering bluffs truly shocked me, and as I travel through this part of America, I think about the people who use to live here. How could they survive in a place such as this; almost no trees, hardly any surface water, no protection from the elements? It would have taken very strong people to turn this "bad land", into good land, into land to call home. This place holds so much to be discovered. • • More photographs from my trip to the Badlands are currently on display on my website, which is linked in my bio! If you want to see more of "mako sica", click the link! Thanks for all the support! 👍 • •
