Adopting a regular breathing practice. Ok so I know we all have a regular breathing practice otherwise you wouldn't be reading this! I am talking about breathing correctly. Many of us breathe quickly and mainly in the chest area, this is especially true if you are suffering from anxiety. But breathing deeply and slowly can have profound effects on the body and can instantly change your state from anxious to calm. This breathing practice will activate the parasympathetic response, instantly soothing and calming the mind as well as the body. I learnt 6, 6 breathing or coherent breathing or 5 breaths per minute breathing a few years ago from my yoga nidra teacher. I was astounded how powerful the technique was and still is for me. It really can change your state of mind and it is free and simple. The idea is to take 5 breaths per minute which equates to breathing in for 6 seconds and out for 6 seconds. If breathing exercises are not part of your daily practice you may have to build up to 5 breaths a minute. Wherever you start is fine, and with practice you can achieve 5 breaths per minute. All you need to do is sit or lie down  comfortably. Close your eyes and place your hands on your belly. When you breathe in your belly should rise and when you breathe out your belly should fall. You want to breathe into your belly. So relax your shoulders and breathe in to the count of 6, pause, then breathe out to the count of 6, pause and repeat. Try and work your way to doing this for 10 to 20 mins a day to feel the  benefit. Happy breathing!

O Diabetes é uma alteração do nosso sistema metabólico que pode ser ocasionado por uma aumento da quantidade do açúcar no sangue, também conhecido como hiperglicemia. Assim que surge ela apresenta sinais e sintomas no nosso corpo e nós precisamos estar atentos. São eles: -Aumento da fome; (polifagia)

A diabetes Mielitus pode ser dividida principalmente em:

Tipo 1> Acontece na fase da adolescência onde o paciente pode apresentar a polifagia, polidipsia e poliuria. Além disso apresenta perda de peso e o paciente não apresenta a produção de insulina.

Tipo 2> Ocorre na fase adulta, após os 45 anos onde o paciente pode ter um aumento de peso. É caracterizado por uma resistência na produção da insulina. O paciente não é dependente da insulina, porém a produção não é suficiente. Neste caso o médico estimula o metabolismo para o organismo equilibrar a hiperglicemia.

Durante a consulta o médico investiga se o paciente teve algum parente próximo diagnosticado com diabetes. A hereditariedade é um fator que pode gerar a Diebetes Mielitus.

O paciente diabético, assim como os saudáveis, tem de ter hábitos alimentares saudáveis com níveis equilibrados de carboidratos e proteínas.

Tome muito cuidado com os tipos de açúcar colocados à mesa, prevenção e tratamento é a chave para uma qualidade de vida!

Four factors that can negatively impact on your microbiome:

1.  Eating a low-fibre diet. Your gut microbes rely on the fibre in your food for fuel. A low-fibre diet results in inadequate fuel sources for your microbes and leads to a reduction in the diversity of your microbiome.

2.  Alcohol intake. Alcohol triggers inflammation with the gastrointestinal tract and impacts the composition of the microbiome which may result in dysbiosis.

How can we manage our stress ?
Managing stress can be hard sometimes especially  if you find it hard to take yourself away form a situation or even if you find it hard to switch off.
▪️ know how to identify the sources of stress in your life - although it may be easy to identify major stressors in your life such as our jobs or relationships,  it is easy to over look our daily thoughts , feels and behaviours  that contribute to our every day stress levels.

▪️ learn how to say no- sometime we think we can take on much more than we can manage- know your limits ✅
▪️practice gratitude - take a moment to reflect on all the things that you appreciate in life including your own positive qualities. This may help bring things into perspective if stress contributing to making you feel down. .

Nature is always more powerful than us humans. I first learned that when I used to compete in whietewater kayaking, then skiing backcountry taught me a thing or two. Military Experience in the paratroopers special forces on top I felt pretty comfortable with my limits and how far I could comfortably push them. But two days ago we pushed too far. Set sail too unprepared for the upcomimg weather. Then the actual weather even outperformed the weather report. And there goes your setup for disaster. Then some technical problems with the sail and you really switch into survival mode. 4 meter waves and wind type 8 had us struggle for 23 hours out on the sea. Long day that forced us to push over the point of exhaustion many times. We learned two things. 1) How strong you are when you need to be and 2) How fast you can set yourself up for a live threatening situation. A Man Over Board would have sealed the fate in those conditions. STAY HUMBLE. STAY SAFE. STAY STRONG. "We don't even know how strong we are until we are forced to bring that hidden strength forward. In times of tragedy, of war, of necessity, people do amazing things. Our ability to loose body fat or to build muscle is effected by these levels so therefore tying to mange our stress and maintain a healthy level of cortisol is important not only for our general health! but also for optimal results with body composition 🙏🏻 .
How can we manage our stress ?
Managing stress can be hard sometimes especially  if you find it hard to take yourself away form a situation or even if you find it hard to switch off.
▪️ know how to identify the sources of stress in your life - although it may be easy to identify major stressors in your life such as our jobs or relationships,  it is easy to over look our daily thoughts , feels and behaviours  that contribute to our every day stress levels.
▪️take control of your environment - if you know that something is contributing to your stress levels or making you feel anxious- then take control of it ✅

#Cleaning is part of #humanity!! Well it keeps us #health. At Maisha home we teach our children #personalhygiene and #generalcleanness. We do this on a daily routine. #Brushing and #showering, #mopping and #sweeping, laying bed. it’s all about being #organized and #renewed to feel better. 
Well for long I thought this was great. Guess what At a certain extent this is not it all to be renewed...

I virkeligheden elsker jeg at lave mad, nyder at prøve nye ting og få maden til at se indbydende ud. Når jeg så alligevel nogle gange glemmer at kræse om maden, er det desværre tiden min sundhed tabe til. Det virker måske lidt dumt, når nu det er kosten der giver energi og i virkeligheden tager det jo ikke meget længere tid at lave noget som både er godt for maven og øjnene. Det handler for mit vedkommende om planlægning, har jeg tingene på lager - kaster jeg mig gerne ud i rollen som kok 👊🏻 Pigerne spiser som udgangspunkt det sam - måske med lidt mindre chili! 
Spinat pandekagerne er et hit - og kan fyldes med hvad man lige har lyst til (eller spises alene). Jeg har i dag fyldt den med oksekød og grøntsager 💪

Ein ruhiger, kraftvoller und gleichmässiger Atem ist ein starker Verbündeter in vielen anspruchsvollen Lebenssituationen. Es ist kein Zufall, dass Atmen ein so integraler Bestandteil vieler Achtsamkeits-, Yoga-, Zen- und Mediationsübungen ist - gerade weil das Atmen normalerweise so beiläufig und unbewusst geschieht.

So wie innere Ruhe zu einem ruhigeren und gleichmässigeren Atem führt, so lässt sich umgekehrt auch durch einen bewusst herbeigeführten gleichmässigen Atem die innere Ruhe (wieder) herstellen. Selbst Angst- und Panikattacken lassen sich durch die richtigen Atemübungen mit ein wenig Training wirkungsvoll in den Griff bekommen. Denn zum einen gelangt durch den ruhigeren Atem weniger Sauerstoff in den Körper, wodurch weniger Adrenalin ausgeschüttet wird. Und durch die bewusste Steuerung des eigenen Atems bringt man den Fokus weg von den äusseren Einflüssen, die Angst und Panik verursachen und fördern.

Eine sehr effektive Übung zur Beruhigung der eigenen Atmung erfordert 10-20 Minuten Zeit und eine Uhr mit Sekundenanzeige. Ziel der Übung ist es, eine genau festgelegte Anzahl von Atemzügen pro Minute zu atmen. Bei vier Atemzügen pro Minute benötigt jeder Atemzug 15 Sekunden, wobei das Ein- und das Ausatmen jeweils genau die Hälfte der Zeit in Anspruch nehmen soll. Bei drei Atemzügen pro Minute stehen für jedes Ein- und für jedes Ausatmen 10 Sekunden zur Verfügung. Während der Übung achtet man auf einen möglichst ruhigen und gleichmässigen Verlauf der Atmung und kontrolliert die Regelmässigkeit anhand der Uhr. Fortgeschrittene in dieser Übung streben immer weniger Atemzüge pro Minute an. Sehr gut Geübte schaffen einen Atemzug pro Minute, d.h. 30 Sekunden ein- und 30 Sekunden ausatmen. Ihr werdet bei der Übung feststellen, wie unruhig und holperig der eigene Atem sein kann, insbesondere wenn man sehr langsam und bewusst atmet.

I’ve not been running for so long due to injury. It’s been a journey of ups and downs. In this time I’ve had the chance to reflect on a few things. I’ll never take running for granted again and I will be more thoughtful when around those who can’t. I’ve also started open water swimming, which I love and I’ve been on the bikes more.
