This cute little turkey combines two of my favorite therapy tools: nature and contact paper! I️ love to tape contact paper, sticky side out, onto walls and windows so that as kids place items onto it, they work on shoulder stability, wrist extension, and postural control (to maintain balance in standing, kneeling, or while sitting on an exercise ball)...these are all key elements to fine motor control. . . #natureplay #finemotor #thanksgivingcrafts #contactpaper #corestability #visualmotor #earlylearning Instagram Photos | videos | post

Monday Motivation ! .
Getting back into routine after a long break is always hard. We started by making monsters out of pipe cleaners and toilet paper rolls.
.
Visual motor coordination! .
I made some holes ( bigger at first) to thread the pipe through them. Since she couldn’t hold the roll steady in left hand she had so much trouble. .
I will keep working in it , this is her goal moving forward. .
If you are gonna try this, use longer pipe cleaner, shorter one were way to difficult for Kyra as they kept bending.
.
But this was a very good therapy play, required concentration, focus, steady hand. .
P.S Kyra hates praising, so my voice is very serious, she has been having tantrums every time we say “yay! Kyra “ or clap.

Always trying to recycle, reuse and craft away. Love these toilet paper roll haircuts - they remind me of trolls. A great way to work on sequencing , scissor manipulation, cutting skills, hand eye coordination, visual motor and processing skills, hand + finger strength and fine motor abilities. Have fun and share your trolls with us. #littlediamondsot #occupationaltherapy #occupationaltherapist #paedot #paediatrics #children #otsofinstagram #childdevelopment #scissors #cuttingskills #visualmotor #visualprocessingskills #inhandmanipulation #tooluse #fingerfun #fingerstrength #handstrenthening #dexterity #finemotorskilldevelopment #finemotorskills #boostingskills #makinglearningfun Instagram Photos | videos | post

This week in our teepee your toddler can thread our colourful tubes to make a snake. This diy project can easily be done at home with household products. This inexpensive toy provides your toddler with a threading activity which is extremely beneficial for their fine motor skills and visual motor skills. It assists them to strengthen their intrinsic muscles of their hand and helps with their co-ordination, in hand manipulation, their grasp, their visual tracking, visual discrimination and scanning. We love it when something so inexpensive and relatively easy to make can add fun to your toddlers day but more importantly assist with their development. #toddlersense #toddlerfun #diycraft #threading #threadingactivityforlittleones #toddlertoys #finemotor #visualmotor #handeyecoordination #wowcentretusmore Instagram Photos | videos | post

We are always amazed by our little people's drawings! 4 yr old Henry had a go at drawing some things he can see: a train, a building and a plane. Figuring out how to recreate what we can see on paper is a brilliant skill for young children. It requires the ability to perceive the shapes & lines that make up an image, and the ability to use our motor skills to imitate that with a tool (pencil). Around 3-4yrs it's great to encourage kids to draw circles, squares, diagonal lines & triangles to prepare them for writing letters. This sunny weekend, encourage your child to spot things in their environment, take a photo and draw it! Instagram Photos | videos | post

Tricks for encouraging shoetying: one, use different color laces to increase visual contrast and two, convince your student that you're Cinderella.

This continues to be a great activity that promotes fine motor and visual development in your 2-3 year olds! Gather all the supplies (colander, feathers, pre-made face) and let your child build their own turkey 🦃 ! #pediatricoccupationaltherapy #fundamentals #finemotor #turkey #visualmotor Instagram Photos | videos | post

We all love a beautiful bouquet. Encourage your little one to insert flowers- real or plastic- through the holes in a colander. A fun and easy way to boost hand eye coordination, visual motor and processing skills as well as in hand manipulation, finger and hand strength, pincer grip, dexterity and fine motor abilities. Have fun! #littlediamondsot #occupationaltherapist #occupationaltherapy #OT #paedot #childdevelopment #children #handstrenthening #fingerfun #fingerstrength #dexterity #inhandmanipulation #visualmotor #visualprocessingskills #handeyecoordination #teaching #learning #prewriting #handwriting #writingfundamentals #boostingskills #makinglearningfun Instagram Photos | videos | post
