We agreed to movement at the very beginning which always helps us look to the future. We travel and see the world and we tend to move around a lot. How does yoga impact your mental health?

A study by Teker et al found that a consistent yoga practice reduced symptoms of depression and led to a significant increase in serotonin levels and a decrease in the levels of cortisol. At the University of Wisconsin, Richard Davidson, Ph.D., also found that the left prefrontal cortex showed heightened activity in meditators, a finding that has been correlated with greater levels of happiness and better immune function. More dramatic left-sided activation was found in dedicated, long-term practitioners.

I'm slowly getting back into my routine. Going to school (Swedish language course), exercise in the mornings, yoga in the evenings, and recently I've spent a couple of weeks applying to universities for master programmes. I'm officially done with that and I'm happy not to have to think about it anymore.

But what I'm most exited about, is that in January I'm gonna go to India to do my YTT in Kerala! I can't wait!

Der Beruf ist egal, die Kleidung ist egal, die Nationalität ist egal! Yoga kannst du immer und überall praktizieren. Wenn dein Leben auf dem Kopf steht, stell du dich selbst auf den Kopf, dann ist die Balance bald wieder im Lot! Schenke dir jeden Tag ein bisschen Aufmerksamkeit! Egal wo, im Supermarkt in der Warteschlange, in der Waschstraße, in der Pause auf deiner Arbeit, ... wo auch immer! Atme tief, achte auf das Nichts in den Pausen deiner Atmung, atme aus. Genieße es. Es ist nicht notwendig dabei auf dem Kopf zu stehen. Witzig wäre es allerdings im Supermarkt! Es würde auch ein wenig dein inneres Kind wecken. ;)

Not being able to touch your toes in a forward fold doesn’t make you bad at yoga, me being able to almost touch my elbows in a forward fold doesn’t make me good at yoga - all it means is that you might have tighter hamstrings than me! Yoga is not measured by our physical flexibility or our physical strength, because there is no such thing as being good or bad at yoga. Yoga is a practice, it’s a daily ritual. So show up on your mat, show compassion and kindness towards others and especially towards yourself, breathe – that is yoga.

Two variations of a puppy pose, both open up the shoulders and chest, and help with the spine’s flexibility. One is a passive pose and the second one is an active pose. Neither is better than the other. Don’t focus on how advance your poses are in your practice but rather how they feel. Focus on being able to breathe in the pose and listen to your body, it’s your greatest teacher. I love both of these variations, but to be honest with you I do the first one way more often than the second one! What’s your favourite puppy pose? Just a little obliques workout using my @feetup 🤣🤣 I’m playing around with the trainer and trying  to find different ways I can use this little prop in my practice so that it is useful for me. Given that I don’t actually need a prop when it comes to my headstand practice, I’ve decided to see whether I can use it to get stronger and more flexible! So far I found it very useful for deep stretches, whilst also managing to have a bit of fun in the process! I don’t see myself using it everyday but rather when I have a bit more time on my mat 👍🏻😊it’s good to keep your practice playful, and this definitely is great for a bit of play!
