So something just really clicked with me this eve when I watched @lauras_views latest story...She talks about the day to day body shaming we do,mostly to ourselves&how we're never happy with our body. Always striving to lose weight, bigger bum, bigger boobs, nicer hair, the list goes on!🙄
-----
For me yes I want to be lean, and look good....don't we all?! But ultimately my goal is to be healthy and happy...period!🤗
When I listened to what she had to say I thought, shit, I hope people don't think that's what I'm doing to myself, and in turn making them feel like they have to do what I do too!🙈
-----
I work out a lot,be it crossfit/home workouts/rugby,but I do that because I love it! I love how it makes me feel,I get a rush from it,it helps me sleep,I feel physically&mentally stronger from it! I've come from a bad place in life where my mind&body wasn't able to workout due to trauma(or so I thought),now I know that it could of helped(after the initial obviously). I now know how good it makes me feel, I simply don't want to stop!🤩
-----
But that doesn't mean you have to workout as much as I do,or feel inadequate because you don't! Take from it what you will..but what I would love to do with my page is simply to motivate you to want to do something for you!! Show you that YOU CAN DO IT,if you just believe in yourself..Like I wish I had at the beginning of my fight!!
-----
Never feel like you need to 'change' or be like someone else.. be true to yourself always! If you want to lose weight,do that but do it for your health, your mind, your future not to look like someone you saw,who made you feel inadequate!
-----
Never feel like you can't.. because believe me you can! Just take baby steps&you'll get there..slowly, but you'll get there! #hereformyhealth -----

When 20 meets 30! I’ve still got that ‘pretend that there’s not a camera on me and look off into the distance’ look down! I’ve still got a drink in my hand and a pout. I couldn’t feel further from that 20 year old if I tried. For starters my eye brows are so much fuller now - thank god and I have found the beauty of getting my lashes done and how to not use as much blusher 😂 but appearance aside a lot has changed. In the first photo I was a girl thinking she was a woman, feeling like nothing would get me. I wish I could go back and tell her to not make some mistakes she’s made over the years, I wish I could tell her to get out life insurance, I wish I could tell her to enjoy life more, not to worry as much, to not sweat the small stuff. I wish I could tell her that the life she dreams of with the perfect man, her own home, and good friends around her will happen but it will just be slightly different to what she thought. I wish she knew how resilient she actually is, how showing her vulnerabilities is worth it because it would help people in the future, I wish she knew that everything she felt over the next 10 years was setting her up to be the person I am now! I know this is a bit deep but one of my biggest regrets was not understanding who I was as a person sooner but now I do (well I think I do!) I’m going to embrace every moment of it - MS and all!!! #10yearchallenge #multiplesclerosis #ms #autoimmunedisease #disabled #disability #disabilityawareness #msawareness #lemtrada #lemtradajourney #msfam #msproblems #mser #strenght #resilience #10years #change #invisibleillness #woman

What I’m realizing is that 2018 was largely about slowing down the speeding train that was my life. Putting the brakes on and literally forcing me to just. . . stop. I had to stop. For 33 years I lived in hyper-activity, go go go state, always racing to the next thing. Then, in my 33rd year, an autoimmune illness presented itself in my life with massive amounts of pain, to the point where I spent weeks bedridden in the middle of the year. Months and months of doctor visits, and tests, and all the things that are still on going. .
I was on a speeding train, and it had to stop. 2018 was the year that the speeding train had to come catapulting, halting, crashing to a stop. And now that I’m 6 months out, on the other side of the crash, I can see that I actually kind of like it better over here. Slower. More relaxed. More permission to rest. It feels good to not be speeding all the time.
.
How do you feel about 2018? What did it teach you?

Before starting this business, I was the biggest skeptic about network marketing. After doing a ton of research and learning that this company was more about the people than the money- I was sold! Changing lives with a hair care line? But how? .
.
Yes my life has changed for the better mentally, financially, physically, and emotionally because of this “shampoo biz” but it’s gone WAY deeper than that. I realized it wasn’t just my life that was changing for the better, but my customer’s lives that were changing for the better! My family is why I started but my customers are why I keep going.
.
.
“Thanks for introducing me to these products. it’s helped me with _______! I love my hair again!” I get those kind of messages every day and every day I thank God I could help them. People with autoimmune disorders, dandruff, over processed hair, hair loss, hormones, postpartum hair change, hair loss from cancer, etc come to me looking for hair care products that will boost their self confidence, that will help them with hair issues, that are tired of using chemically filled products. So, before we start bashing network marketing companies because of the bad reputation skeptics have given them, let’s start looking at the bigger picture. Let’s STOP assuming everything within network marketing is a scam, and let’s start asking “how is this helping people”. Because in the end, helping others is what it’s all about and without them, there’s no success❤️

MOOD. So much going on right now that I want to fight for. I definitely am not up for physically showing up for rallies and marches, but I feel like I’ve been slacking on my online activism too. I’ll repost in my stories, but you wouldn’t believe how many images currently sit in my repost app & screenshot album. I’ve just been so busy that I don’t have the spoons (mostly mentally) to give the things I want to say/do the energy and attention they deserve and so then I end up doing them bc I hate doing things half-assed, or should I say half-spooned? Does anyone else struggle with this? #Spoonie #SpoonieSupport #ChronicIllness #ChronicPain #ChronicFatigue

Attention: new blog post by my friend @cindy_dupuie . Cindy is a functional medicine nutritionist! She shares a quick story regarding her friend struggling with eczema. (Link in my profile)⠀
⠀
*A diagnosis is great, but shining a spotlight on the root cause is better.*⠀
⠀
Today I had a patient patient that breaks out in a rash when they eat chicken or sesame oil. If he abstains from those foods no rash. Skin symptoms should not be overlooked and in some cases may be caused by gut dysfunction.⠀

Since getting diagnosed with Lupus a few years ago on top of my other chronic illnesses, I have tried making it a priority to keep up with my vitamins and supplements. I’d be lying if I said I remembered everyday which is why when I found @patchmd I fell in love with how easy it was to get my vitamins. A simple patch that gives me my vitamins through out my busy day.🙌🏻#patchmd #ad

Triple sweat Day 3!
Every day we do 3 activities with a count over a minute(? Who knows I suck at time!). We track these numbers to see how well we improve over the next 6 weeks!
My shoulder wasn’t 💯 happy today and it is very sore and my arms are shaky! But I can’t get back to good unless I gain some strength! I’d probably drowned if I tried surfing with as weak as I’ve become 😂!! But OMG I lost 5 lbs already and I just now put in one hour of work (20 min/day) I can’t even eat all the food on my plan! If you are ready to put in the hard work to change you mindset and change your life, HMU! (I’m pretty sure that means Hit Me Up 😂😂 but I’m closer to 40 than I am to 15, and I’m not talking pounds! so give me a break lol)

And even if you aren’t ready for this opportunity, I appreciate you all cheering me on!! #HolyShitIDidIt #Pushing40 #LoveMyPeeps #PawsitiveVibes#Love #Peace #Hippiness #BreastfeedingAToddler #RestaurantLife #ManagerLife #ServerLife #MomOfFourPlusMore #BabyWeight #MomFriends #BusyMomSyndrome #AutoImmuneThriver #AutoImmuneDisease #Hashimotos #Celiac #MusicMom #ShoulderPain #NeckPain #BackPain#ChronicPain #ChronicFatigue #DepressionWarrior

These pictures were taken 11 days apart but it feels like I’m looking at 2 different people. The girl on the left looks healthy and happy but it was all a facade. It’s an invisible disease until it’s not. This girl on the right...that’s real life, that’s what this disease is doing to me and trying to hide it is exhausting. #ulcerativecolitis #ulcerativecolitisfighter #autoimmunedisease #chronicillness #invisibledisease #ibdawareness #takingcareofme #thegoodthebagandtheugly #thisisreallife #myucjourney

A few days after my breakup last year, I came across this beautiful poem on Instagram. I went on the writer’s profile and instantly was captivated. Everything she was writing was conveying the transitional period I was in.
It brought me comfort during that time of pain to read words that made me feel uplifted and not alone.
Within a week of finding her profile, she posted an event for a writer’s workshop.
It was fate.
I was meant to attend this workshop.
I met so many beautiful souls and learned tips on how to deepen my impact through my writing.
But there was a particular moment that I will always hold dear to my heart.
And this photograph was just that moment.
Morgan’s words had brought so much comfort to my broken spirit, that I asked if she would write me something special tailored to what I was walking through on my journey.
This is what she wrote to me in her book,
“No matter what happens from here: through the silence and the fears and everything in between, you are still where you need to be, and you are only growing. You are only blooming. And through it all, by grace you will only be strengthened, everyday.” These words I cherish.
Because honestly, losing anyone out of one’s life is excruciatingly painful.
The silence is loudest and is most effective in trying to keep one chained to the pain in a broken heart.
And this workshop experience meeting Morgan, and many other incredible girls, truly helped bring joy to my soul during that rough time.
And her words have been true.
I have been growing, and blooming and strengthening every day.
It has been a journey of healing my heart.
And amidst the tougher moments in our lives, God truly places blessings and gifts along our pathways to fully embrace, so that we know, we are never alone.

From www.medicalmedium.com:
“Can I just eat celery instead of juicing it?.
.
The reason we juice the celery versus eating it is because juicing and removing the pulp (fiber) is the only way to get the powerful healing benefits for healing chronic illness. There is a trend that is now happening that recommends leaving the pulp in the drink and just have blended celery versus celery juice, which removes the fiber. Try not to get misled by this trend. Leaving the pulp in will keep you from receiving the unique healing benefits of celery juice.
.
Eating celery itself is helpful and should be part of your diet, but you will not be able to consume enough celery to get the benefits of juicing it. You wouldn’t be able to receive the concentrated undiscovered cluster salts, that do all of the following:
.
* Quickly rebuild your hydrochloric acid so that your stomach can break down protein. If protein isn’t broken down properly it will cause gut rot. Strong hydrochloric acid is important to kill off pathogens entering your mouth.
.
* Celery Juice increases and strengthens your bile. Strong bile is important for the break down fats, and for the killing off pathogens; that have made their way into your body. Eating straight celery wouldn’t allow you to get enough of celery’s cluster salts; that acts as antiseptics for pathogens.
.
* Celery juice restores your central nervous system. Removes old toxins and poisons, such as: old pharmaceuticals from your liver.”

My morning hike scenes. I try to get outside and walk everyday—no matter what. No matter what health issues someone has (myself included!), most people/I can benefit from walking. It actually might be the exact right thing to help you heal. Be steady, be consistent. Fresh air + steady movement. #facts #optoutside #outside #walk #walking

#10yearchallenge
There is a physical difference between these 2 photos, but there is a huge mental difference. 10 years ago I was starving myself and making myself throw up. I was deep in the controls anorexia and really was hopeless. You can tell by how puffy my cheeks are in the left photo. That is from excess salvia. My hair is thin. My skin pale. My skin dry. My eyes empty. I was lost and so overwhelmed with anxiety. I was weak and always hungry. I gave off the happy vibe but was screaming inside. I am telling you these hard details because it is hard to miss. Mental health disorders often hide behind a mask. I am just lucky I finally broke and found help.

Flash forward to today, and I am healthier physically and mentally. My hair glows. My eyes are alive. I eat food to fuel myself. I am actively taking care of my mind and body.

I am happy there is a difference because I don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t beaten my eating disorder and started healing my mind.

In case you are feeling a little lost lately, here is some medicine for your soul. ⠀
⠀
You are more than your bank account balance, current career and how put together you look today. ⠀
⠀
You are exactly where you are meant to be. Within your body, your mind and the way you weave in and out of the lessons in your life. ⠀
⠀
The only thing that takes you away from the expansiveness and love of everything that you are is thinking you need to change it. That you need to normalize the feelings and stop feeling a certain way. ⠀
⠀
Everything that you’re feeling and experiencing is so magical. You may not feel it right now. but it’s going to give you exactly what you need if you just allow it to be. ⠀
⠀
Find comfort in the fear, sadness and confusion. Nestle a little home for it within your soul and let it know it’s welcome there. Only you can love it. Only you can make peace with it. ⠀
⠀
I love you guys ♥️✨

Cefaleas

Basal Temperature and your thyroid. Test Your Thyroid Function at Home!
Millions of Americans have some sort of thyroid disfunction. More than 50% don’t even know they have it. This is mostly because practitioners are not testing for it. Female’s have a 75% greater risk of developing a thyroid problem than males. Most of these issues arise because of a weak immune system (aka-lack of proper kidney filtration) The most common sign of hypothyroidism is a low body temperature. Analyzing your body’s basal body temperature via underarm testing is a great way to assess your thyroid function in a non-invasive, low-cost way. A normal underarm temperature is between 97.8-98.2 deg Fahrenheit. If your temperature is consistently under 97.4 deg Fahrenheit, you most likely have a under functioning thyroid. Meaning your cells are not able to produce enough energy to meet the demands of your body. If the temperature is consistently above 99 deg Fahrenheit than you may have a hyperactive thyroid.
Checking Your Basal Body Temp:

Night prior-Get a thermometer and place it by your bedside.
Shake it down to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. When you rise in the morning before you get out of bed, before you eat or drink anything, put the thermometer in your armpit for 10 minutes and record the temperature. Make sure to place it against your skin with the tip facing up into the armpit region.
This process allows you to measure your lowest temperature of the day.
The temperature should be taken for 4 consecutive days for an accurate reading. Visit www.RegenerAte5280LLC.com for more information. #joy #instalike #life #fitgirlsguide #temperature #thyroidproblems #headache #headacherelief #Healthylifestyle

SIBO breath test. 🤢🤮 glucose drink was nasssty. I looked over the numbers and I’m no expert but I’m certain they were negative. GI follow up February 5th. Had nephrology follow up today. My kidney function has declined a slight bit. But not too much. My last creatinine was 1.24. My vitamin D and phosphorus levels are too low though. But with my GP my malnutrition status is also wacky. And my parathyroid is too high. 🤷🏻‍♀️ just another day in this zebras life ✨✨✨ #spoonie #chronicillness #chronicallyfabulous #fabulouszebra #pots #chronicillnesswarrior #chronicpain #eds #ehlersdanlossyndrome #endometriosis #hysterectomy #hysterectomyrecovery #autoimmunedisease #gastroparesis #eatingdisorder #eatingdisorderrecovery #god #godisgood #addiction #addictionrecovery #addict

Another day...another appointment. Today I saw my uveitis specialist for the 1st time since my glaucoma surgery. So what the heck is uveitis? Uveitis is inflammation in the middle layer of the eye, involving the iris (colored part of the eye), the root of my inflammatory disease. Prior to 2011 I had never heard of iritis, but when it hit for the 1st time, the light sensitivity and pain was definitely nothing to ignore. It took 2 doctors to get my initial diagnosis, and when I didn’t respond to the typical course of treatment with topical steroids in the eye, it was time to call in a 3rd doctor. I was referred to a rheumatologist to rule out an underlying autoimmune diagnosis because of the frequency of iritis as a comorbid diagnosis . After numerous tests, it was determined that I was HLAB-27 +, which is a genetic marker predisposing me to iritis and other AI diseases. My body’s immune system was attacking my own eyes!! So I was born with the gene marker that for whatever reason in 2011 reared its ugly head after a very stressful time period at work. It took about 3 months to resolve my initial flare, and between 2011-2016 I had many small flares that were easily managed by steroid drops at the initial sign of inflammation. Fast-forward to late 2016 when I was within the trenches of my mother’s terminal illness. I knew I would have an iritis flare during that time because of stress, but in no way did I think I would technically be dealing with said flare in 2018. Over the course of the last 2 years I’ve added 4 more doctors-uveitis specialist, glaucoma specialist, local optometrist, and integrative medicine. As I continue to heal from glaucoma surgery, which was a secondary diagnosis due to ongoing treatment of my eye with steroids, it’s important that my eyes be monitored for any sign of inflammation. Today I heard what all uveitis patients want to hear “Your eyes are quiet.” It’s important to bring awareness and support to the autoimmune community, and if I can help even one person it’s worth it! #uveitis #uveitisawareness #hlab27 #iritis #autoimmunedisease #autoimmunewarrior #paleo #autoimmuneprotocol #glaucoma

One of my oldest and dearest friends passed away on Saturday from complications with her Lupus... she also had Rheumatoid Arthritis and lived as a brave and bold warrior for years while suffering in pain without complaint.

Just last week she emailed me her story to share with you all and someday soon, I will be honored to publish it.

She LOVED this community and often would remind me that God is here in the details of this project and He will be glorified in all that is done in His name.

Losing Dotty has me sometimes grasping for words, bursting into tears, praising God for her body being healed and without pain in heaven now and missing her more than I ever thought possible.

This quote is exactly how I have felt this week.

In spite of all the pain and sickness and hard days, that we don’t forget to fall in love with being alive... and use every day as though it could be our last.

Thank you for being here, sharing in this community with me. It is truly an honor and privilege.

So why does our body need carbs? I know so many people who are afraid that carbs will make them fat. This is because some people are selling diets, or books and causing fear in people that keeps them from eating carbs. Listen up! I am talking about healthy complex carbs, veggies, fruits, sweet potatoes, beans, and rice. I am not talking about donuts, or pizza. Our bodies need these things for optimal thyroid function, provides a fuel source for intense training, provides micro nutrients for good health, and improves mood and brain function to name a few benefits. Don't be afraid to eat those carbs. Don’t mind anyone else.
I feel like at this age, it’s okay to be “selfish”, because this is the time where we are finding ourselves. The time to make mistakes, learn, and have fun without having to worry about anyone else. We are obligated to ourselves. I feel like our 20’marks the time to pay attention to ourselves, because as we get older we take on more responsibilities and obligations to those around us. But what do I know? 🤷‍♀️ .

This lemon is a juicy gem! Local, full of vitamin C and fiber, adds a sunny pop to everything! Squeeze it into your green tea to protect and enhance health promoting compounds called catechins and combine with spinach for best absorption of iron. Some studies have shown that the flavonoids in lemons and other citrus may protect against cancer. Tart but lovely, add some fresh juice and zest to soups, salads, bean dishes, veggies and green tea! #organic #lemons #vitaminc #polyphenols #phytonutrients #healthyeating #healthyliving #nutrition #nutritionshare #fiber #wholefoods #antiinflammatorydiet #autoimmunedisease #chronicillness #flourish #positivenutritionmindbodyspirit #functionalmedicinecoach #functionalnutritionist #jangoldbergnutritionist

Measure 2x—cut once. Wait, wrong application....or is it? Cutting out certain foods + fasting is amazing for a long list of health benefits. The research is there, a ketogenic lifestyle + fasting is extremely helpful. Maybe not being keto all the time, but being metabolically flexible is key. Once you become adapted to using more fats for fuel, THEN fasting becomes easier. I step people very carefully into this. It doesn’t have to be that hard. I started fasting for the first time over 25 years ago with only a broth I made from vegetables to get electrolytes from. Ouch, those days were very tough. Plus, I was not metabolically flexible, so there is that. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Do you fast? Are you one of a zillion people interested in keto, but struggle?

Most people couldn’t imagine how certain microscopic microorganisms in your gastrointestinal tract could a major influence on your central nervous system.
But what is being uncovered more and more is the science behind how your gut bacteria affects not only your gastrointestinal tract but your brain and spinal cord as well....[Blog Link in Bio]

This was my lunch today - Omelette with ginger, turmeric, mushrooms and bacon. And lots of cilantro! Why is it special? Because I am eating eggs after two years of avoiding them! I started AIP two years ago and since then have remained egg free. I have been wary of reintroducing them lest I get a flare up of my RA since I used to be very sensitive to eggs. Now these are pastured eggs from a local farm so I am keeping fingers crossed that I will be fine. The omelette was delicious - loved the Indian flavors along with the bacon😊👌 Here’s how I made it:
Recipe:
In a skillet, add a tsp of coconut oil and pan fry two strips of bacon till crisp. Keep aside. To the same pan, add a tsp more of coconut oil and half of a chopped red onion. Saute for a minute and add 1/4 tsp grated ginger. Then add 1/2 a cup of sliced mushrooms. Saute for 2 mins until mushrooms are soft. Then in a small bowl, crack two eggs and add a tbsp of water and beat till blended. Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of turmeric. Pour this onto the pan and keep heat on medium. Cover abd cook for two mins. Add chopped cilantro on top and then carefully lift one side of the omelette and flip halfway thru to get a fold. Cook for 30 secs and then remove from pan. #aipreintro #cleaneating #paleo #paleodiet #eggs #omelette #keto #eatrealfood #healthyrecipes #nutritionaltherapy #nutritionist #nourishingfoods #goodfats #pasturedeggs #eggreintro #aip #autoimmunedisease #healingnaturally #holistichealth

So, I have decided that I am going to update my account starting from me turning 18 until now, in celebration of the fact that I lived past my 18th birthday. Now I made it to 2019 and I'm still going strong!
This picture is from 2017, two weeks before my 18th Birthday. I got out of the hospital the day before this, just in time to send my sister Savannah off to Bootcamp 💕

Pure exhaustion after #transform20 #
But I loved it- it’s hard but exhilarating.
#commit to myself to 6 weeks to transform to another version of me.
When I gain weight because of my high thyroid levels it’s really hard to get rid of it. I’ve gained 18 pounds and I don’t like the way my pants fit, so time to get serious and focused

Juicer arrived, and its saving me a lot of hassle ! 🙌🏼 I’ve been washing, chopping and blending celery in the Vitamix, then hand-squeezing the juice. Too much for busy 5am mornings ! 😓 Back on schedule 🤗
