I was talking to my personal trainer about how important exercising is to our sanity!
And that reminded me of a study I read not too long ago which shows that exercising regularly helps people make better and more positive decisions. For example; people tend to smoke less or eat less junk food after exercising. The study also showed that students who exercise regularly, study more effectively and manage their time better than those who don’t.

So don’t be so obsessed by how exercising will make you look, try to focus on how it makes you feel and what impact it has on your life 😃

3️⃣Rotating circle planks! Go in both directions! 
4️⃣Pike-up! 
5️⃣Crunches/stretch! I leaned all the way back to give relief to my core.

Last Wednesday I shared an example of a workout I designed to improve my flexibility & strength balance.

Today’s workout builds the same things in a different way:
* Cossack Squats for Lateral leg strength
* Staggered Good Mornings to strengthen & lengthen the hammies at the same time
* Another version of hollow bodies with shoulder flexion, this time with feet on the ground, which helps me feel it more in the lower abs (which translates directly to my handstand)

I find this technique super safe for weak abdominals.  You are

🌈 Roll up Sit Ups 🌈 I find this technique super safe for weak abdominals. You are "rolling up" from a supine (laying down) position into a seated position. You start at the cervical spine... Raising your head and then shoulders off the floor by tucking your chin in towards your chest. Next you work through the thoracic spine... Thinking "one vertebrae at a time". Nice and slow, deliberate, steady. Finally to the lower spine... The lumbar area... You should start to bend your knees in the same timing and movement as the upper body rises off the ground. Take your time rolling up and likewise controlled as you roll down to the ground again. Need more advice? Get in touch! Nb... If you are a brand new mama then I would not do sit ups, crunches, static planks, until you've had your medical professional sign off that you're "ready to start exercising". "6-pack" exercises are NOT the best way to start postpartum... Made a delicious protein packed frozen cocoa smoothie that’s perfect for for pre or post workout! And of course I had to add some flair for #wonderwomanwednesday!

Here’s the recipe:
- 1 C @traderjoes cocoa almond cashew beverage
- 1/2 C 2% greek yogurt
- 1 small banana - 2 scoops @primalkitchenfoods vanilla protein powder
- dash of cinnamon - ice
.
It’s a hefty 445 calorie shake so consume on a day you need to fuel some heavy lifting!

who doesn’t love an airport workout 😂😂😂

when ya got a 2 hour layover, you might as well be productive! busy day today, so making the most of my time! some simple exercises that are easy to do on the go:
1️⃣ airport chair tricep dips X10
2️⃣ airport chair pushups X10
3️⃣ weighted bag lunges X8 each side
4️⃣ glute bridges X15 ⠀⠀⠀⠀
carrying heavy bags all around the airport is definitely a good workout, especially when you can’t set them down bc you’re by yourself 😅 hate just sitting for a long time, so it’s great to get up and move around and just keep the body movin! 🙌🏽

“Wine Wednesday...Thanksgiving edition”

What wine are you serving with your Thanksgiving Dinner? I made a stop @tablewineasheville to pick a few up for our meal and I can’t wait to give all of these a try! I went in with an idea of what I wanted and my price point and the helpful folks @tablewineasheville gave me several options to choose from. Head out to your local wine shop with all your wine questions! •
I started with an inexpensive cava that I plan to use for mimosas or some sparkling cranberry cocktails, but bubbles pair well with food in general, so it could be used on it’s own with the meal as well. •
Next was a search for a Grüner Veltliner, I have really been into this variety lately, and this Austrian wine will be a great, dry white to cut through the gravy and heavier dishes. Bonus: this wine comes in a full liter size. Dry Riesling or Chardonnay are good white options as well.

Beaujolais came next, which is a staple at our Thanksgiving table. A great light red to pair with the holiday meal. Lots of commercial options out there, but I went with this organic wine this year.

Since I already had a light red, I opted not to go with a Pinot Noir and instead went for a little more body with a Primitivo (same grape as Zinfandel), but this was described as more spicy than jammy, which was just what I was looking for. Côtes du Rhône or a California Zin would be some other medium bodied options.

HIP FLEXORS
Hip flexors are a group of muscles around the top of your thighs that connect your upper leg to your hip.  They create flexion in the hip, which is the bending movement around a joint in a limb (such as the knee or elbow) that decreases the angle between the bones of the limb at the joint.
For example, when you raise your knee, hip flexion occurs because it decreases the angle of your thigh bone relative to your hip joint.

TIGHTNESS -
Tight hip flexors can lead to limited range of motion, poor posture, lower back and hip pain, and even injuries. Tightness in the hips may cause anterior pelvic tilt (where your butt sticks out more than it should).
If there’s too much tilt, it may not be great for your posture and can weaken your glutes, resulting in overworked hamstrings and lower back muscles and ultimately, LOW BACK PAIN.  It’s therefore very important to include hip flexor stretches as part of your work out routine.
