Friends, I have been down the dieting road...tried them all. I was so good at controlling for the first week, but always fell off eventually.😟

Dieting and constant exercising put such a stress on me. Stress causes inflammation which messes with hormones, your gut and it also affected my mood and sleep. Sleep is too important to screw up.🌙

👉Finally, I figured out what worked for me. For ME. When I work with clients, we start where they are and design a plan that works in their life.

When I just ate real food most of the time and cut my exercise sessions down, I didn’t have to keep track as much. I added more walking and reduced my stress and I actually looked and felt healthier.🌸

Because I am satisfied and have more nutrients daily, I have less cravings for sugar.🙌

When I started going for FEELING good instead of looking good, it all clicked.

When we fill our nutrient needs and movements needs, we don’t need to diet.👈👈

But they ALWAYS lead to an improvement in the quality of our lives in the long run, whether it be by making us more resilient, making us wiser, or putting us in a place where we can appreciate what is great in our lives. Think about a hardship in the past that you OVERCAME. What positives came out of this hardship. If you think about it long enough, you will definitely be able to find at least one. ⁣

Remember this in the moments of your hardship. Remember that the hardship will transform into strength, wisdom, and improvement in the future. I often hear from people that they are so busy, stressed, overwhelmed, and it is taking a toll on their health. When I begin talking to them about what tools they are using to support their health;  I often hear,

It's not selfish either! ▫️ Do you often put the wants and needs of others ahead of your own? ▫️ I often hear from people that they are so busy, stressed, overwhelmed, and it is taking a toll on their health. When I begin talking to them about what tools they are using to support their health; I often hear, "I just don't take good care of myself." ▫️ That worries me. If this is you, is it that you don't know how, or that you don't think you deserve it? ▫️ I'm going to repeat the same analogy you've probably heard a million times before; when you're in a plan and the mask drops, you are instructed to put your own mask on first before assisting others. There is a reason for that. You can't give from an empty tank! You need to take care of yourself so that you have enough in you to give to others. At some point you need to replenish the fuel or you won't be able to help anyone else. ▫️ What a tragedy! As humans, we get so much joy from helping others. It's in our nature. ▫️ So stop putting others' wants and needs ahead of your own. Ask for what you want, need and deserve from people and resources who have it in their capacity to assist you first, so you can refuel your own tank. FEEL YOUR FEELINGS 🥰// How do you express your emotions? Do you tend to keep them bottled up? Do you avoid talking about them? Do you keep yourself busy obsessing about food, weight, work, life, relationships, just so you don’t have to confront them?

It’s amazing how burying our feelings can result in imbalances in our health. Our emotions are so closely tied with organ systems and can be an underlying cause of disease. Our cells and genes have an incredible ability to be influenced by our emotions and our energy. Are we happy? At peace? Living in alignment? This is an environment where we can thrive.

But when we’re living in stress, pushing down anger and sadness and avoiding our feelings, we put extra stress on our bodies. The negative energy brings us down - emotionally and physically.
Suppressed emotions can manifest physically as pain and discomfort. This is commonly found in the digestive tract considering the strong connection between our gut and our brain.

Learning to feel your feelings and release yourself from their grip is not an easy task, but it’s very very valuable. Here are some ways you can begin exploring this:
• Recognize that you are not your emotion. Do not own it. Acknowledge it, feel it and let it pass through.
•Emotions are not negative or positive. They just are. We decided to label them at some point but that makes us feel bad when we experience them. Anger and sadness is just as normal as excitement and happiness. Don’t feel guilty for feeling an emotion, all emotions are valid.
• Seek help when navigating your emotions. A professional like a psychologist can be such an amazing tool to help you sort out your emotions and identify where they may be stemming from.

Therapy is one of my favourite tools when I need some additional support. Mental health is important. Emotional health is important. It’s all part of the holistic view of health.

信じて良いのか分からないけれど、夢占いによると、私の心が非常に疲れているらしい。
腸内環境整えて、日光浴びて、セロトニンを増やすか。
腸内環境は今のところ良さそうだけれど、とりあえず発酵食品食べて、外に出よう。

I don’t know if it’s right, but according to the dream I’ve seen these nights, I am terribly stressed now. 
I think I should increase positive bacteria in my intestine and go sunbathing for more serotonin, hormone to make you feel happier. 
I’ll eat more fermented food like kimchi or yoghurt and go out more often.

I never had that much coffee daily... and I’m not sure it’s a great thing. So I’m asking for your tips and feedback about coffee consumption and/or ways to cope with fatigue and improve energy during these short, cold winter days 🤷‍♀️❄️

You’ll know that one of the keys to success in any endeavor is COURAGE.

❌ And courage is not something you’re born with.

❌ It’s not something that some people have and some people don’t.

—> The idea that no matter what happens, YOU can figure it out.

Look I get it...taking risks, doing new things, or stepping out of that pristine comfort zone of yours can be scary. And uncomfortable. And uncertain.

(🙋‍♀️ I’ve been there, trust me. My comfort zone is pretty dang cozy and hard to crawl out of at times.)
.
But more often than not (I’d venture to say always...) having the courage to leap at an opportunity leads to some of the biggest breakthroughs and best moments of your life.
.
Those moments that set your path in an incredible new direction. Or completely shift your paradigm in such a way that your life is never the same again.
.
Because the moment you decide to leap (whether that’s leaving your job, starting a biz, or beginning a new workout regimen) something crazy happens...
.
1.) With each big step forward you are literally chipping away at the fears that held you back for so long - fears such as not being good enough, brave enough, what people will think, etc.
.
2.) You prove to yourself that you’re capable of so much more than you originally thought.
.
And what’s a bigger confidence booster than that?
.

Healing is not a competition. It’s ok to take longer than other people to make similar progress. It’s ok if your lab results don’t look perfect. It’s even ok if you feel worse today than yesterday. This is not a linear process and sometimes it’s messy and difficult.

I needed this reminder today after I saw the results of my cognitive assessment. I know how much I’ve been through, but it’s still hard not to feel discouraged seeing below average cognitive performance in some areas. As a math PhD student, I train for this! I should perform much better and this is a reminder of how much I have left to overcome. So I’m sharing this reminder with you that it’s ok to feel discouraged, but keep the context in mind. I’ll get through this and so will you.
